Three ways to connect
Suitable for new builds and existing installations with a data logger. We choose the simplest option together with you: (1) Our CM4 gateway directly on your inverter via RS485 — for sites without an existing logger. (2) SmartLogger Bridge — if you already have a Huawei SmartLogger, Solar-Log Bluelog or similar data logger, we read via your existing hardware (Modbus TCP). (3) Push Bridge — your logger sends data to us via HTTP/CSV. In all cases it works with the six main brands (Huawei, SolarEdge, Sungrow, SMA, Fronius, GoodWe).

What is monitoring and what exactly do you measure?
In short: we watch your solar installation 24/7 to make sure it does what it should.
We measure three things — the inverter:
- Power (kW) and energy (kWh) — instant, daily and monthly production
- Manufacturer error codes (Huawei, SolarEdge, Sungrow, SMA, Fronius, GoodWe) with plain-English descriptions — instantly understandable
- Temperature — too hot means less output
The panels (per string):
- Voltage + current per string — are all panels performing equally?
- Insulation resistance (Riso) — detects moisture damage
- IV curve (optional) — reveals shading, soiling or damaged panels
Optional add-ons:
- Battery — state of charge, charge/discharge power
- Smart meter — grid consumption vs export
- Weather data — how much sun hit your roof (via Open-Meteo)
What do I get every month?
A readable PDF report every month with: production (kWh + €), Performance Ratio (target ≥80%), availability (% of sun hours the system was working), CO₂ savings, and — if there were incidents — what they were and how quickly we resolved them. We make an honest distinction: losses from real faults (where we act) versus structural losses (shading or soiling — no action needed, no invoice).
Does it work with my inverter brand?
Yes. SunMonitor works with all common brands: Huawei, SolarEdge, Sungrow, Fronius, SMA, GoodWe. We connect via your manufacturer's cloud or via local Modbus — your choice. You are not dependent on your brand's cloud.
Why not just the free app from my manufacturer?
The free app shows current numbers — useful, but:
- No loss attribution — no split between fault and shading
- No anti-spam — alerts on every cloud or sunset
- No independent check — if the manufacturer cloud goes down, you see nothing
- No monthly report in plain language
- Vendor lock-in — switch brands and you lose your history
How much does it cost?
Every solar installation is different. The monitoring and support required depend on the system size, number of inverters, installation type and desired features. That is why we work with custom pricing. After a short assessment you receive a transparent proposal tailored to your installation.
How quickly am I live?
Within one business day. We need your inverter brand + location. Then we choose the simplest of three connection methods: our CM4 gateway next to the inverter (RS485), a bridge to your existing SmartLogger/Bluelog (Modbus TCP), or your logger pushes data to us (HTTP/CSV). No changes to your installation needed. The first data often arrives within 15 minutes of connection.
